Confirmation is one of the Sacraments of Initiation. While Baptism is the first step of initiation into the life of the Church, Confirmation can be seen as the completion of the Baptismal commitment. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, “The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace” (no. 1285). There are two primary effects from the sacrament of Confirmation: strengthening of one’s bond with the Church, and reception of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the “sacraments of Christian Initiation,” whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For “by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to Spread and defend the faith by word and deed…” - Catechism of the Catholic Church #128Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6
Our two-year catechetical process encompasses formation, prayer, service and other building blocks upon which our youth develop a foundational understanding of the Catholic faith and their role in the life of the Church as Disciples of Christ.
We welcome participants in our program. Candidates seeking to celebrate Confirmation must complete two years of sacramental preparation. This preparation can begin as early as 6th grade or as late as 10th grade.On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” - John 20:19-22
